The Artist:
a.k.a. ColMustard or Mustard
Artistic Background: I have over 5 years of self-trained experience in the medium of graphic art. I have always been involved with one form of art or another. Some other mediums of art I have experience in are; drawing, traditional & modular origami, scratch art, glass casting, and clay.
Personal Interests: I have many hobbies outside the realm of art. I have played paintball in the woods setting for over 8 years. I am one of the co-founders of the Shadow Dragon Initiative scenario paintball team. I also enjoy online computer gaming, primarily First Person Shooters. When not involved in one of the activities listed above, I spend the rest of my time with my lovely wife.
The Artistic Process:
Subject Acquisition: To create your unique graphic I begin the process by obtaining an image that you want to be used as the subject for the work. The subject is usually an action or posed photo of the client in full gear, with or without their paintball mask. The larger the resolution the better, but there are artistic methods which can be used to handle smaller images. The image must not be copyrighted by anyone.Commission Pricing: During the initial setup communication I will send a quoted price to the client. The client must pay this balance before receiving their image. Splatter Magnet Graphics accepts cash in hand and paypal for online purchases.
Image Rendering: The image rendering process is when I remove the subject from the background of the image. This method allows me to enhance the image with specific backgrounds rather than rely on that of the original image.
Background Selection: My creativity and judgment is used to determine what background color and texture will accentuate the subject the best. I use only open source images or those created by myself for backgrounds. The goal of the background selection process is to ensure the subject remains the focal point.
Font Selection: I select the font in a similar manner as the background. The only major difference is the text is designed to share the focal point with the subject. As with the backgrounds I only use open source fonts.
Client Consultation: Once I have received payment and have created a prototype graphic, a small sized version of the image is sent to the client for feedback and approval. This step is included to ensure the client will be satisfied with the final version. One consultation is built into the price which was quoted at the beginning of the process.
Final Image Distribution: After the client has seen the prototype and I have made any requested changes, the image is distributed via e-mail to the client. I will provide multiple sizes of the finished work in a zipped folder.
Image Ownership: Please note all images created by Splatter Magnet Graphics are subject to copyright of me, Matthew Leonard. The client has personal usage rights to the image they paid for, however the image is not permitted to be used commercially without my consent.
